I don't normally post here, as my last post said, I've moved to blogger. However, I feel that I need a bit more anonymity for this post, so I'm back to LJ.

My cousin who was 6 months pregnant with her 6th child just lost the baby yesterday. She is 32 and still has 5 kids. She and her husband can hardly afford them as it is. I have told people, friends, about her situation, saying "oh yeah, this is my crazy family from the south." Basically, dismissing her and her life choices. The thing is, knowing now that she lost the baby, and so far along, and thinking about how the other kids are dealing with it, and how she and her husband are... I can't help but feel a sense of loss myself. I can't imagine what a sad thing that must be.

I sincerely hope God will help them through this time.

Found: Kitties!

If you are in the Baltimore/DC/Delaware area and might want a kitty, my friend Rachel found a litter of 6 adorable kittens, 4-5 months old, abandoned with their mother in Baltimore. Being the wonderful, animal-loving person that she is, she took them in, and is trying to find homes for them. I have pictures if anyone wants to see them. I should also mention that they are all litter-trained and as sweet as can be, despite the way that they have been treated.

Please, if you can find a little room in your home for an adoreable kitty without a home, contact me!

Have you ever licked the back of a CD to try to get it to work?
Can't say that I have.

What's the largest age difference between yourself and someone you’ve dated?
3 years.

Ever been in a car wreck?
Only 1 bad one.

Were you popular in high school?
Not typically popular, but I had a lot of friends.

Are looks important?
Sometimes. I won't say first impressions (based on visuals) make no difference, but they can be easily overlooked when you've gotten to know the person a bit.

Do you have any friends that you've known for 10 years or more??
Yep, some my whole life. Our moms were pregnant together.

By what age would you like to be married?
Whenever I find a person I like enough. Well, love.

Does the number of people a persons slept with affect your view of them?
It's possible, but as long as they don't cheat on me and are disease-free, I can deal.

Have you ever made a mistake?
Isn't the saying "everybody makes mistakes"?

Are you a good tipper?
Yep, 20%, no matter how poor I am.

What's the most you have spent for a haircut?
$40, I think. The Hair Cuttery is my friend, $14 cuts.

Have you ever had a crush on a teacher?
Oh yes. What can I say, intelligence turns me on.

Have you ever peed in public?
I popped a squat in Italy. Hahaha, that was a good night.

What song do you want played at your funeral?
Naive Melody by the Talking Heads, though I like my dad's choice too, Amazing Grace, played on the bagpipes.

Would you tell your parents if you were gay?
Shit yeah.

What would your last meal be before getting executed?
Hm, it would have to include parmesan risotto and possibly the chocolate lava muffins i make with vanilla ice cream. That's what I would choose as of today.

Beatles or Stones?
BOTH. I know they were kinda rivals, but they're both so damn good.

If you had to pick one person on earth to die, who?
probably paris hitlon

Beer, wine or hard liquor?
All of the above. Please. But really, I don't drink that much, I just like to mix it up.

Do you have any phobias?
Bugs. I dislike clowns, but I'm not scared of them.

What are your plans for the future?
I have been asked that way too much lately. I have no fuckin clue.

Do you walk around the house naked?
If no one is around, sure. Not when cooking though, that could be painful.

If you were an animal what would you be?
Being a shark would be pretty sweet, or a lion or something.

Hair color you like on someone you're dating?
Any.

Do you have any special talents?
singing, learning other languages (though i haven't tried any non-romance languages), playing piano, and running into things.

What do you do as soon as you walk in the house?
shut the door behind me and lock it (in my house)

Do you like horror or comedy?
comedy, generally.

Are you missing anyone?
Oh yeah. Stupid college, being over.

If you weren't straight, what person of the same sex would you do?
Good question, probably Kate Winslet or Scarlett Johansson

Where do you want to live when you are old?
Um, no idea.

Who is the person you can count on the most?
My parents I suppose.

If you could date any celebrity past or present, who would it be?
Cary Grant, Bob Dylan, Alton Brown

What did you dream last night?
Something weird, but I can't remember. The other night it was that I was still at Bonnaroo and there was one more artist left, and that everyone else was leaving, but I wasn't. They were apparently not that good, but I wanted to see them, but felt like a loser for staying.

Are you named after anyone?
My great grandmother was named Esther Brody, and I'm Brody Esther.

What is your favorite alcoholic drink?
Can't choose. I do love amaretto sours though.

Non-alcoholic drink?
frozen lemonade is excellent in the summer.

Have you ever been in love?
Yes.

Do you sing in the shower?
Yep. I love it.

Have you ever been arrested?
Nah, I'm not that bad.

What is your favorite Holiday?
Christmas I suppose. I just love the spirit that comes with it, and hey, it's my birthday too.

Would you ever get plastic surgery?
icky. no.

Have you ever caught a fish?
Yes! I love fishing. I only do it to catch my dinner though, not just for sport.

Failed attempt at recounting Bonnaroo/Tennessee

So I'm siting here at Cosi. I came here with the intention of getting out of my house so I could write about my trip, but it ain't workin. Cosi was really my 3rd choice of place. My first was Starbucks, but they were too bust, and I couldn't get one of the comfy chairs. There was NO PARKING WHATSOEVER at or around Panera. So I came here, got an iced tea, sat down, and was scooting my chair in at the table, and managed to get a splinter on my finger. Awesome. Then I realized that I forgot my little Bonnaroo schedule/book thing, which I rely on to get an idea of what I did when and such. And I just read Jason's account, and it made me not want to post. I got dissed a bit. Also, I think I'm gonna start a blog rather than livejournal. It's been so long since I updated this, that I would rather start fresh. So there you have it.

crazy dream

Ok, so odd dream that I just woke up from a little while ago. I had gone on this trip, I guess to help teach english to these kids in a latin american country. The thing was, they spoke portuguese, but it wasn't even portuguese, but that's what it was supposed to be. I was with 2 or three other girls, maybe o or 2 of them sisters, and another I didn't know too well. The little kids had a chalk board, well, one did, and was trying to teach us. I should mention, we were living in this house, and I don't remember getting into the house, but it was pretty spacious. the older girl/sister went for a run and came back all sweaty and said we were very high up. I went to look out a window that had a little gate thing (from which we could see the tops of tropical trees and stuff) and i nearly fell out, the gravity was so strong. I felt very out of place bc i didn't know the language at all, and I was'nt able to pick it up. I went outside somewhere, and there was this big pool of water that was kinda like the water in front of the taj mahal. Around it were these beautiful turkish temple style buildings, the tops anyway.

I then realized I didn't have my camera, I had left it behind. I ran inside to see if I could borrow one. The girl who wasn't my sister let me have hers, and I ran outside, and immediatly waded into the pool. There were people watching, and they were all worried about the camera. I was still fully clothed too. This little boy was sort of following me into the pool. As I swam to each corner of the pool there were different things to see. The cameral was hard to operate somehow. At one corner of the pool there where the buildings, but people taller than the buildings, like magazine ads. They were like billboards, but looked like real people standing still. There were only two of them, which was a little odd. Other people started getting into the pool and splashing around, the adults constantly gasping, due to the camera. I think that was about it.

I stay up way too late...

I am SO very aware that I should be sleeping and not updating right now. Nevertheless, here I go...

So winter session is awesome. I have discovered many things to do in my down time (as there is quite a lot of it), and one thing is the website mcphee.com. Trust me on that one.

I have also started talking to one of Jason's friends from fla., Pablo, which has been really fun. You can never have too many people you can get philosophical with late at night. I have also been talking with Jason a lot on the phone, which is fun.

Joshua leaves for Japan tomorrow, which is so fucking cool, and I am very very jealous. (Even though, yes, I did spend a semester in Italy...)

That sort of brings me to another thing. So today I check my email. There is a message from myspace telling me that I have received a message from Natsuko. My heart immediately skips a beat. Could this possibly be the Natsuko who was my best friend in the whole world from 4th grade to 7th grade? Who I did a histry day project with? Who I listened to Hanson, Backstreet Boys and Celine Dion with? Who I played on the trampoline with? Who I watched Titanic and Forest Gump with???? I checked it, hardly breathing, and sure enough... IT'S HER!!!! I proceeded to shriek and jump all around for nearly an hour I was so excited. I also immediately emailed her back. So.. YAY!!!

I then hung out with Felix, Nur and Perin in Felix's room, which was nice. He made us drinks. :-)

Oh, I have also been seeing a lot of Hussey and her friends, which is AWEsome. Grottos on Tuesdays man, it's the way to go. We have also watched a variety of good movies (Including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade!!!). We have also perfected hailing Schmidty down, which is a necessary skill.

I know this is very brief and rather like gibberish, but I really should get to sleep. Maybe more later. If not, tant pis.

Anyway, happy winter all!

Happy New Year!

So many people are doing a recap of the year, and I will... later. When I can type without making 2 billion mistakes a word. Yes, that is an exaggeration, but my typing requires way to much concentration right now. So.... goodnight! I hope everyone had fun!

God, my mood has been so variable lately, if I didn't know that this is how I normally get around this time of year I might be a little worried. It also could have something to do with the fact that I'm exhausted.

I feel like half the day I am happy. Today in particular. I got up early, went to get some breakfast and donut holes for the King Arthur party, went to psych, then King Arthur. All was well, a random guy smiled at me on the street, people were entertained by the film version of "Mists of Avalon," I was feeling high off of the approaching Christmas season and the end of class. Sad too, because of the end of class, but happy I had taken what I did.

So then I had to go to work, my first day at Lieberman's. It was actually a great work environment, I really liked everyone I met and the job itself wasn't hard at all. I am also working about 50 hours before I leave for home on the 15th, which is pretty sweet, I must say.

I skipped the party I was supposed to go to tonight, though. By the time I got off work and went to get something to eat at Trabant, I was exhausted. It didn't help that I got about 5 hours of sleep last night, but no matter, I was sleepy as hell, still am, seeing as I haven't slept yet. I can sleep in tomorrow, I work from 11-4.

So, all is well, I have had a great time becoming better friends with the people around me, and today I was in a downright amazing mood. And now, all of a sudden, 12:45, something hits me, and I'm terribly sad. No idea why. I mean, there could be tons of subconscious stuff, but when it comes down to it, I don't feel like exploring it, I know I'll be back to the up side by the morning.

I just feel so weird, like I don't have a handle on my emotions, not normal for me. Ah well.

Only an 8-10 page Italian paper, revisions on my 15 page King Arthur paper and a psych test to go!

So why am I sad?

Skidfest+Opera=Awesome day

So despite feeling shitty when I got up today (had the feeling my uterus was a punching bag), I ended up having a blast. I got a bagel and made my way to skidfest right before it started at noon. I didn't leave until 5:30 (I had to), and I hope that says how much fun it was. The bands were excellent, the company was excellent, the booze was plentiful and I was happy. Bands I saw: Drunk on Sunday, Three Legged Fox, Caravan, Lower Case Blues. I went with Kristy and her roommate and saw Stan, and then a ton of other people I know. There was a triangle player (Steve?) in a hotdog hat, Asher, the steel drum player (who is awesome), I guy that tried to crowd surf (twice) and basically just ended up falling on people (including me). The stamp on our hands was a hand flashing the shocker (obviously homemade and awesome). It wasn't even all that cold, at least it didn't feel that way. Sadly, I had to leave before it was over (around 5:30) to get to the pre-opera dinner!

I basically power walked home, changed pants, put on lipstick, put on some perfume to cover up the smell of smoke in my hair, put on my boots and called myself opera-ready. I was picked up at 6 and squired off to Boston Market for dinner before stopping at the Love Shack before heading off to Wilmington. One of the guys that was supposed to go went MIA, so we left without him and were almost late after waiting for him. We Got to our seats just in time and the opera began. The only downside was that the grand opera house in wilmington is made for midgets, or at least annorexic people. No matter how one sat there was no leg room and ones shins were right up against the back of the seat in front of you. Anyway, the voices were great and all went off without a hitch. We then dropped Becca and Jeff off and picked up Brent and Janica to go the iron hill for a little food and drink. Last call at 1, we had all only gotten 1 drink. We got outside and Julie did a crazy dance for the drunk people at Kates to AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long." It was a wonderful end to a great day.

Tomorrow will be devoted to my fucking Italian paper and other work. BOOOOO. Good thing my week has been so great otherwise.

So I don't post much, but I thought the past couple days warranted a little something. I have had the best week already, and it's only Wendesday.

I went to lunch with a couple people from my King Arthur class on Monday (off campus) and was a bit late to Italian, but was so worth it. It was a good mid-day relaxing activity. That day it was beautiful outside and I went out to read, and I met Kristy. She had talked with Sam before and just sat down with me. She was incidentally really cool, has met Neil Young, is in a funk band, and wanted to jam with me! So that was fun.

Tuesday I woke up early because of daylight savings time, had plenty of time to mess around then went to meet Rachel for lunch. And who should be there and sitting alone, but Kristy! I invited her to sit with us and we all had a nice chat before Rachel had to leave. I then sat with Kristy, and then her roommate until they had to leave. I was gonna leave then, and who should I see, but Joe! He was also alone, and so I thought I may as well sit with him for lunch too. I talked a lot about sharks, nothing too out of the ordinary for me. He had a pretty sweet "Philosophy of the Undead" book. I think it's going on my Christmas list. So then class, normal. Oh, right, and it was Halloween! hahaha, I was dressed as "Hippie Longstocking" (kinda my mom's idea, accidentally). I was the only one in my class who had decided to dress in costume. I hung out and did some work after class and decided that Grottos was a must for the evening. Found out Hussey wasn't going, but her roommates and a couple others were, so I planned to go with them.

Well, I was in the area around 6, and I didn't see anyone in Grottos, so I went to their apt. above TCBY where I saw Erica. The others weren't back yet, so I just hung out there to wait for them. We then all went to Grotto's together, and sadly, it was laaaaame. Schmidty wasn't even there. Bummer. We then decided to get a shot then go on the the liquor store and buy a bunch of smaller bottles of alcohol and make up different kinds of shots. We first looked up recipies (including ones for pumpkin pie shots!) and then went out to spend about $70 on booze. Or, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-ze. Then a little more on groceries. We got back around 8 and the craziness began...

I don't even know how to describe what ensued, so I will make a list.
-Whipped cream fight: I kicked whipped cream all over Sarah's face
-I made a gazillion pumpkin pie shots
-Beer Pong, and lots of it
-"Spurred Burr"
-Jerry from King Arthur was there
-"Ignoble Douche Rocket""
-"Cunt Monkey Wookie Bitch"
-Me laughing so hard I will not need an ab workout for the rest of the semester
-chucking candy corn at beer pong players, particularly Becca
-blowing a little drink umbrella at Jerry and hitting him.
-"My finger smells like a bloody asshole!"
-Sarah: "Hey guys... 'boner.'"
-Super Troopers
"If you were sucking, Jesse would know."
-getting hit in the boob by candy corn more than twice
-hitting Becca in the boob with candy corn
-throwing yellow starbursts in the salsa ("It's art!")
-free chips
-beer pong ball right in the middle of the triangle

That's it for now on that. Anyway, I was there til 1 or 1:30 before getting walked home. Fell asleep on my floor for a bit, then moved to my bed.

I actually made it to my first class today, despite being dumb. King Arthur was fun, Jerry came in and we looked at each other and kinda laughed. I asked how his morning was, and he said he missed his first class. We played "candy quiz" which was fun even though I didn't know a lot of the answers. Lunch with Darley, we're screening a KA movie for class tomorrow. Then to Italian, got out early. Ran into Stan on my way back and he said I could come to his place before skidfest if I don't go next door. Ran into Fraser and SteveO as I was walking. Got to Sussex, and who should be outside playing guitar, but Sam! I sat there for a good long while. Kristy came out and we just all hung out, along with Joel, Margot, and a few others. Sam was in a singing about sex kind of mood. "Does the carpet match the curtains?" Everyone had to leave around 4:30, and I had my English major forum at 5. Dinner, soon hanging out with Keith and Rachel, then maybe Sam. God, homework needs to happen sometime.

Friday is Sarah's b'day party, Saturday is Skidfest followed by opera! Goddamn, good week!

I am disproportionately happy today. There must be something wrong with me. I am crazy busy, have one more class, then psych meeting, then must run to Goodwill, followed by eating something, followed by the most excellent party ever, in other words, a Rubiks Cube party. (Come in 6 different colors of clothing, leave in 1) We watched part of Monty Python and the Holy Grail in King Arthur!!! I finished my Italian Paper!!! Rachel's birthday was yesterday!!! I'm running out of things to say!!! Oh yeah, I need a shower. FINE.

OUCHHHH!!!!

My true accident-prone-ness really shone through this morning. This is the worst so far this year I think...

So I wake up, not knowing what time it is, but thinking it's Monday. Already I think "Fuck, I have to get up for class!" It's already 9:something. So I get up like normal, maybe with a little more speed, I guess I put my left foot down on the window sill* and swing the other foot down. Little did I know that my left foot had fallen asleep or some such nonsense, so my right shin came crashing down on the corner of my desk. I manage getting into a sitting position on the air condiitoner, still wincing and moaning in pain, when i realize the growing blood pools on the floor. I think, fuck, what did I do?? I was in pretty intense pain, but I didn't see a huge cut. I did notice that I had a pretty big puncture wound and that I couldn't step onto my carpet to get my phone because I would leave a huge bloody footprint. I eventually think to grab some paper from my printer to throw down and step on. I think got to my floor and sat, trying to figure out what to do. Standing really hurt, and I wanted to call someone for help (someone on my floor that is). The only phone I could reach was my room phone, but that would do no good, because I didn't know Tomi's extension. I opeoned the door and leaned against it to keep it open so see how effective calling her from across the hall would be, but as i didn't want to wake everyone, I decided against that plan. I then resolved to find my cell phone. Once I did, I called Tomi and luckily she woke up and took care of me. (Thank you Tomi!!) It turned out it was just the puncture wound and a few scratches, which dosen't mean it doesn't hurt, oh, oh no. But it's not terrible.

So yeah, cue me calling Julie because we had said we would meet at 10 on Monday, and leaving a message. Then going to get in the shower. In ths shower I realized, oh shit, I didn't do my response paper for King Arthur that was due Sunday!! And then, the clouds parted, the birds sang, and a light bulb lit up over my head... Today was Sunday! I laughed out loud for a while in the shower, watching the blood rinse off my legs, I must have sounded like a maniac.

So, the end of this is, sure, I'm hurt, but it's Sunday!

*To get onto my bed I have to do a bit of climbing, as I have to to get off. To get up I have to step on the lower bar of the loft, then onto the air conditioner, then the window sill, then my bed, hence the problems getting down, though I haven't had any til now.
